First, one bright blue eye peeked into the den. Then two. A light grey apprentice stepped into the medicine cats den, eyes wide. This was a feast for his senses: different colours, different scents, all kinds of herbs stacked into neat piles. He wasn't really supposed to be here. After all, Possumpaw wasn't ill, or worried that he might be. But come on, every cat was just a little bit curious, right? Medicine cats seemed very mysterious to him, communicating with starclan, healing the sick with knowledge only they knew... There was something mystic about that. So he wanted to taste that air, to feel that magic, just a quick peek. Surely he wasn't going to be discovered, right? Possum stepped deeper into the den, praying to starclan that no one saw him. Apparently starclan had different plans, because he could here the tell-tale footsteps of a clanmate coming. I'm screwed.

Restlessly, Arcticwolf fidgeted with his paws. The silvery tom had been accustomed to mild to moderate pain thanks to his warrior training, but the stomach ache that gnawed at his intestines was in a different league entirely. De tom growled in silence when he tried to find a more comfortable position, curling up with his tail around his belly. Still, there was no comfort to be gained from this new position as another stab of pain sliced through his stomach. There was no other option, he decided, he had to honour Chivypaw with a visit, though the thought of eating those bitter herbs of her made his skin crawl. He didn't want to sáy that he was intimidated by the silver coloured she-cat, but he might have to admit that she gave him the shivers. He would never admit that to her though. Not in her face. After lingering for a few heartbeats, his stomach urged him that it really was a good idea to go and the tom raised himself to his paws. To his surprise however, he didn't meet Chivypaw in the den. It was possumpaw who he found. "Possumpaw," he mewed with a startled expression, "are you the new medicine cat apprentice? Or are you ill?"

“I would like to be the air that inhabits you for a moment only. I would like to be that unnoticed and that necessary.”
